The best part of the holiday season is when you’re able to give your time and effort to a cause that helps others. One of the most fun, heartwarming and fulfilling causes that I have participated in the recent years is the Adopt-a-Family program. Being able to come together with my coworkers to help raise money and provide a Christmas for multiple families is one of the most rewarding feelings I have ever experienced. 
The families that APR have adopted have always asked mostly for items that the children needed as far as clothes and day-to-day items with a few entertainment requests. My favorite part about the Adopt-a-Family program is when we were able to obtain all of the items the families have needed plus been able to provide them with specific toys the children wanted as well.
This year the employees raised $1,270 Â on top of bringing in 48 toys and presents for the families in need. APR was able to adopt three local families with a total of 11 children this year.
I have personally been involved in two years of the Adopt-a-Family program and each year we were able to provide a Christmas for three local families. Just knowing that I was a part in helping out fellow members in our community and that the children would wake up on Christmas morning with excitement is the best gift I could have ever asked for.
