Starting a Job in a New Industry

By Porsha:

I started working at American Profit Recovery about five months ago and it is the best job that I have ever had. I have customer service experience from working at fast food restaurants and being a waitress but being a customer service rep for a collection agency is different; a good kind of different.

I was nervous at first for I knew nothing about a collection agency or the laws that they are regulated by. I hate messing up a on a job and want to always strive to do my best and I thought I would fail, but here I am and I was definitely wrong.working at a collection agency [...]

We listen-plain and simple

For my upcoming summer vacation, my family and I are going back to my hometown to visit some family and see some sights.  In planning the trip, I’m reminded of when I started my career there over 20 years ago.  A career that has taken me from New York to California, and ultimately Michigan.  A whole lot has changed in my life over the span of my career, and a lot has changed about the Collection Industry as well.

It still astonishes me that we were able to be efficient at our jobs back then without the internet.  In fact, I remember a time when the office had only one computer, and that was a big […]

Balancing two families

By Ardi:

I started working for American Profit Recovery just over three years ago. My previous job was also at a call center (not collections). The hours were long, late nights and weekends. I left that job so I could have more time to spend with my newly formed family. I must say I didn’t know what to expect here at this collection agency and never even considered working as a Debt Collector either. What is it like working for a collection agency

I didn’t know much about the position but it seemed like it would be a good fit for me based on the job description. Three years later I […]

We won another award. Why should you care?

We have once again earned a spot on the Best Places to Work in Collections list. We have now been on this list for over a decade, 12 years to be exact, and we are very proud to have this as one of our main goals as a company. Creating a place where people want to come to work and contribute is a goal that any business should have in their sights. And it is one goal that we believe is paramount to building a thriving organization. When we founded American Profit Recovery, it was one of the things that we felt needed to happen to create a sustainable business.

But what does this mean for […]

It’s all fun and games when we work as a team…

By Alexander:

What if I told you that not only did my boss (Brian Liberadzki) treat his entire team of eight, at that moment, to lunch at Dave & Buster’s, but paid for all of us to play games too. Out of his own pocket! How could this be true you may ask yourself? Well let me first explain why we were treated to a fantastic day of fun at the expense of a great mentor.

It began in March of 2019. Tax time was already upon us and calls were flying in left and right. Overwhelming some inexperienced may say, mainly me. Anyway, every collector was looking forward to this time to help out consumers and […]

Funding educational opportunities with fun…

Our team seems to be always getting involved in something greater than themselves and this April was no different. Our crew has raised money for many causes including breast cancer research, Special Olympics and other noteworthy missions over the years.

This past month, they once again took on the ACA Collectors Challenge and raised close to $1,500 for this program. Our team has been raising money and having fun each April and they know their efforts are going to help many in the collection industry.

In the past decade, we have raised over $18,000 to help fund educational opportunities.

The ACA Collectors Challenge raises funds for the ACA International Education Foundation. And those funds ultimately go towards funding […]

This career is different

By Derek:

A few weeks ago I celebrated my one year anniversary working at American Profit Recovery, so I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on what I’ve experienced thus far during my tenure with the company as a collector. I should start by stating, that working here for the past 12 months, has sincerely been a pleasure. I’ve held various positions in the past, as I’m sure everyone else has as well, that made getting out of bed in the morning a constant struggle because I dreaded the work that awaited me once I arrived at the office. It’s extremely refreshing to say I have not had one of […]

How to show appreciation to your employees

By Aubreigh

One thing that sets American Profit Recovery apart from many companies is the management’s way of going above and beyond to show their appreciation for their employees. Some examples of this are APR’s annual Employee Week, the holiday party, and my personal favorite, the end of the year call. This is when all APR employees get together in the big conference room, eat pizza, and recap the highlights of the year. Every department is honored as we go over collection and sales statistics and address the important roles that our support and IT teams play in the grand scheme of things.

In this meeting, awards are handed out for various categories, like Most Improved Collector, […]

Braving the cold weather and water for a great reason

By Curtis:

On February 23rd a team of American Profit Recovery team members braved the freezing weather to participate in a cause we all believe in at an event we’ve loved for years. The 2019 Polar Plunge to help raise money for Special Olympics Michigan. It was my second time jumping and I have to say, it’s one of my favorite ways to raise money for anything. Our kind hosts at Fork & Pint put forth a great effort assisting with the event, and thousands of dollars are raised each year. Having known a good handful of Special Olympics athletes over the years I can say it’s a great pleasure to assist in find them some […]

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

I do love this time of year, as it seems everyone has a little more pep in their step and a smile on their face coming into the Holidays.  It is a time of giving and a time to be thankful for our families and friends.  Many people get to see loved ones that they may not have seen in a long time.

It is also a time to reflect on the, soon to be, year gone by.  It is a great time to see what you accomplished this year and to also plan for a great year to come!  As I reflect on the year gone by here at APR, I can’t help but smile […]
