Another summer of doing what’s right

This collection agency is different, plain and simple. And we prove it all through the year by doing what’s right for our communities and those that depend on the support of others.SummerCharities-Logo-FINAL-LoRes

When many think of collection agencies they don’t think of them giving to charity but if you’ve followed American Profit Recovery for any length of time, you know we give a lot back. And many others in the collection industry are community-minded as well. And that’s what our team did this summer; They gave back.

For several years now, our team has taken part in our Summer Charites of Choice where they picked the organizations they’d like to […]

Cash Flow 101 Part 2

I gave you a few tips recently on managing your cash flow and I have a few more for you. We talked last time about billing on time. I can’t say it enough. Bill on time…It’s the cornerstone of a well oiled accounts receivables system. As someone who has worked at a collection agency for over 20 years, I have seen far too many times, businesses coming to seek the assistance of collection agencies only to find they have not paid attention to the basics. That and professional accounting software were my last two recommendations.

Here’s a couple more:

Make sure your customers understand your billing policy right up front. […]

Cash Flow 101

A common question we hear all the time as a collection agency: How can I improve cash flow in my business? It’s one of the main questions collection agencies get.

There are a number of things you can do to keep up on cash flow at anytime during the year, whether you’re a lawncare or landscaping professional, plumber, medical or dental professional or any other type of service industry. I’ve been working in debt collection for over 20 years and I’ve seen many mistakes that could have been solved with just a few extra resources and thought.

Here’s a couple and more to come in future blogs:

Always bill on time: […]

Back to School and the Lessons of Finance

Our kids have now been back to school for several weeks and they are beginning to get in a groove and hopefully, (I say, hopefully…) learn some valuable lessons not only in the books but also in some good life habits.

One of those lessons that your kids and maybe us adults too should be acquainted with is financial literacy. Yeah, your kids may be getting their fair share of math lessons but what are they going to do with that math knowledge as they get older? Hopefully they will use some of it to manage their finances.

As a collection agency, we see many people who […]

Another reason to pick up the phone…

With the advent of caller ID, (which at this point is not so new anymore,) we have as a society trained ourselves to not pick up the phone when an unfamiliar number pops up. In fact, I believe we are all guilty of this.

It comes into play especially when collection agencies are calling. Our instinct is to not pick up the phone and what could be worse, not return the call if a voicemail is left. This could be a bad move for any number of reasons.

One, if you have outstanding debt, you should take care of it and work with the company that is […]

Developing A Champion Mindset In Business

By Jason:

Recently some of my coworkers and I attended a seminar courtesy of the Yes Network, the guest speaker was Gaurav Bhalla. His segment was called “Champion Mindsets, A Prerequisite for Achieving Quantum Leaps in Performance.”

He started off discussing how the world has evolved, mentioning that not even that long ago a lot of businesses could invest their time and money developing new products in order to dominate the market. He specifically mentioned Sony vs. Samsung, saying that Sony focused on creating new products, while at the same time Samsung only had black and white televisions, he then called on people in the crowd; encouraging them to pull out their Sony Discman or Sony Walkman. […]

Customer Service … In Person!

I recently had the privilege of leaving the office for part of the day to join a few of my coworkers at the New England Grows Trade Show.  Working in the Customer Service department, we are able to build relationships with clients over the phone, but it isn’t that often that we are able to get out and meet clients and potential clients face to face, so when I was offered the opportunity I jumped at it.  After the day ended I was really happy that I was able to go and wanted to share a few things about that day. […]

Don’t let your cash flow take a vacation

Summer is upon us as well as vacation season and long weekends. And for many that can mean a few critical tasks taking a back seat in your business. One regular task in your business that should stay front and center is invoicing and follow ups. Regardless of the time of year.

One of the biggest factors in any business growing is cash flow. Lack of cash flow is responsible for not only stress in a small business but it can cause a business to go under in no time. Imagine, coming back from a nice relaxing vacation only to find you have very little cash in the bank. […]

Did You Miss The Pie Video? More Thoughts On Employee Week

By Ashley

This was my first employee week, and I have to say it was an amazing experience. We ate a lot of food and had a lot of laughs. My favorite part was the ‘mock elections’/company call where I got to put a whip cream pie in one of the manager’s faces.  It was the best way to end the week, in my humble opinion!

And check out the pie in the face video again. You can never see too much of that!

Employee Week Was Awesome!

 By Sarah:

Never have I ever felt more accepted and appreciated as an employee than I do at APR.  Employee Week is just one of the many ways in which APR gives back to its employees. Personally my favorite part of Employee Week is getting to spend time with my fellow coworkers, especially those who work in MA and NC, at the many after work events. My favorite after work event this year was when we went bowling after work. I felt like this event had not only had the highest attendance and participation but was also the most interactive.

I believe Employee Week is something unique that APR takes part in that other companies should try […]
