Fall Is A Great Time At American Profit Recovery

By Brit:

The Fall has always been my favorite time of the year. I love the cool nights and warm days of Autumn in the Midwest. The return of Michigan football after nine long months brings back memories of Saturday tailgates long ago with my Dad, and the promise of passing on those traditions to my kids (Go Blue!). Raking leaves, trips to the cider mill for fresh cider mill donuts, absurdly repetitive pumpkin spice-flavored advertisements on TV; I could go on and on.bigstock-146672210

Here at American Profit Recovery, the beginning of Fall has a similarly exciting meaning. Due to our continued growth, we are excited to bring in new […]

The more you help others the more you help yourself

By Matt H.

Here at American Profit Recovery, I have found this to be a foundation.  From Ownership on down, everybody is here to help!  I have never seen a collection agency put so much emphasis on this.Helping Hands

Ownership is leading the way.  I have seen their generosity in helping employees and their families.  They support our community by investing their time and raising thousands of dollars of donations.  I see Collectors helping consumers out of a difficult situation and treating them with dignity and respect.  Customer Services Reps, making time for everybody and always available to help. Sales consultants advising businesses how to limit the amount of bad […]

Our Summer Charities of Choice This Year

This year the team at American Profit Recovery once again took part in our own annual Summer Charities of Choice program. This marks our seventh year doing so. This program was designed to raise funds through a variety of activities throughout the summer and then we donate all the funds raised solely to charities nominated by our employees.

These charities nominated by employees are near and dear to our employees here and many of the donations given are in “Honor of” or “Memory of” someone special to our employees.  Over the past seven years – APR’s employees have raised over $16,000 for this charity initiative alone! […]

Collecting and Customer Service-One In The Same

By Ashley:

Recently, a couple of my teammates and I got to sit with different collectors to see how they work. Now, if you are like me, you would think a collector, who is trying to get a consumer to pay, is going to approach their job very differently than someone who is in customer service, like myself. What my teammates and I learned is that we’d all be wrong.

When my teammates and I discussed our separate experiences when sitting with collectors the general consensus was our collectors use the same approach to collecting that we use in customer service. Our collectors are doing everything they […]

Business Lessons From A Navy SEAL

Last year I had the opportunity to see a former US Navy SEAL speak at the ACA Convention in Boston.  It didn’t take long to see why once these men have concluded their military service they are sought out by businesses to help motivate and train their management staffs.  Since then, I’ve read a few books written by some other SEALS.  Their stories of combat and heroism are incredible, and you cannot overstate how extraordinary these men are.  The mental and physical toll that SEAL training takes on a SEAL candidate weeds out all but the most qualified of people, and those that succeed willingly enter into a life of non-stop sacrifice and training.

Race to Collect-Part 2

Last week we answered the question, Why Do I Have Slow-pay Accounts? If you didn’t see that blog post, click here to see Part One.

Today is Part 2. We give you more insight as to why some consumers don’t pay their bills and how to solve that issue with your business.

– Lane three (3) begins the bad debt category and is made up of those Consumers who won’t pay unless they get a Collection call or the item appears on their Credit report. By day 90 you have a really good idea who does and who does not intend on paying you. This is especially true when repeated invoices, […]

Race to Collect: What to Expect When Expecting… Money-Part 1

Why Do I Have Slow-pay Accounts?

The short answer is, because you’re in business. Any company can expect somewhere between five and ten percent of their accounts to be slow paying. This holds true even when we take a cross-section among various industries. To be sure some industries will fall on the lower end of the spectrum and some on the higher end, but the law of averages holds true. Are slow-pay accounts just slow paying, are they bad debt, or are they simply uncollectable. The answer to this question is more important than any other since making this determination early on will save both time and money.Collection agencies, [...]
