Consider the Person Behind the Business

By John W.

In any social setting, when asked what you do, responding that you work for a collection agency can sometimes evoke a less than enthusiastic response from some. But why is this?Good collection agencies

In most cases, our opinions are cultivated in reaction to our own experiences. So, your friend that rolled their eyes when you said what you do may likely be thinking of a past call that they received from a debt collector, or could be thinking of their grandpa’s experience getting in over his head and being on the receiving end of a collection agency’s efforts.

This is a one sided view however. What if […]

When I grow up

Kids!  Aren’t they great?  “Mom, when I grow up I want to be a fireman”.  “When I grow up I want to be a police officer, a teacher, President, etc., etc., etc.”.  All of these, mind you, are noble professions with delusions of grandeur!!  Now, in all of my years, I don’t believe any of these kids have said “ Mom, I want to be in debt collections or I wanna work for a collection agency”  In fact, if that did happen, I would be curious to see the look on that parents face.  These other positions and aspirations, as you know, are noble and prestigious positions, so why would a child aspire to be […]

Appreciation is Essential

By Sarah L.

Administrative Appreciation Day is coming up, April 26th to be exact, and being a member of the Admin team myself at this collection agency I know that this day is one that our team looks forward to. Each year on this day the entire Admin team is taken out to lunch by the owners. This not only allows some time for team bonding but it also lets us know that our work is valued. Appreciation is essential in any type of relationship and American Profit Recovery goes above and beyond to show their appreciation not only for the employees but for the community and our clients as well.  […]

Luck is in the Labor

By Sean;

St.Patrick’s Day! Whooohoo!! Growing up with Irish on both sides of the family I have some fond memories of March, 17th. The Irish are often considered to be lucky people. But is luck earned, or is it…well…simply luck? When thinking about this concept two memorable quotes come into mind.collection agencies and dedicated employes

“I’d rather be lucky than good” Ugh… I remember the first time I heard this miserable quote. A competitor of mine muttered it to me when I was on a golf course during a junior tournament when my stray drive hit a tree and miraculously ended up on the fairway. I thought to my young […]

There’s Nothing Wrong With Asking For Money

We recently spoke to a business owner that got so frustrated at times when customers didn’t pay that they just wrote them off, took them out of their system and made a policy of never doing business with that customer again. In short, they took the nonpayment personally. Unfortunately that’s not the first time our team has heard that and we are sure, not the last.

Debt collections, American Profit Recovery

We have always stated that if you are in business, you are going to have receivables, and you are at times, going to have customers that do not pay. In short, you’re going to have to do some debt […]

Small Business Tax Tips For This Season

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. Closing up the books, locating everything you need to send to the IRS and maybe just a little bit of panic setting in. It’s a new year, and that means there are probably new changes to tax laws and everything else associated with running a business, both on the state and federal level. And there is new leadership in the White House so that can also mean changes coming down the road. A busy and sometimes confusing time for a business.

Here are a few items to keep in mind during this tax season:

How to Become a Born Leader

By Sarah S.

Recently I attended the Yes Network for the session that featured, Billy Riggs. He had two portions in the session, first on “The Magic of Balance” and the second on “How to Become a Born Leader”. I took a lot away from his session in all and just wanted to highlight some key features I really enjoyed.Leadership American Profit Recovery

In the first portion, The Magic of Balance…. I learned balance all revolves around what makes a person happy and how to create true happiness. Always altering your priorities to balance life, next your character as a person has a big impact on this; who you […]

Happiness and Balance

Here at American Profit Recovery, we encourage the constant challenge to improve yourself and your skills, and attending seminars and/or reading good material is a great way to do just that!  I recently attended a seminar hosted by the YES Network here in Michigan.  The speaker was a gentleman that I have seen before at the Michigan Bankers Association conference and I bought some of his materials back then.

His name is Billy Riggs and I highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance.  His message for us was about “the Magic of Balance”.  He posed a question that I have heard numerous times and one that I […]

A Great Partnership with Real Green Systems

By Sarah:

This year was my first year attending the Real Green User’s Conference. Also called Solutions 2017. I have been working in the customer service department at American Profit Recovery since March 2013. I have really gotten to know quite a bit about Real Green and their software Service Assistance over these past few years. I have learned a lot about the ins and outs of the accounting portion of the software and also gotten the ability to train new clients that utilize the software. It gives me great pride in being able to show clients the integration that American Profit Recovery has with Service Assistance and how user friendly it really is. It makes […]

My Real Green Conference Experience

By Kaylee:

In my three years here with American Profit Recovery, I have talked to many different clients and heard many different voices. It’s been a joy to talk to clients and to learn more about them and their company, but you don’t really feel like you know someone until you meet them in person. I had the pleasure of being able to go down to Orlando, Florida and spend time at this year’s Real Green Conference. Real Green is a software service that many of our lawn care clients use to manage their accounts and seamlessly turn them over to us for collections. With this being my first time there this was a brand new […]
