I Got The Job!

When I walked into the Michigan Job Fair on August 30th, I didn’t know what to expect. I went to a few tables talking to different companies, but one company stood out from the rest. That company was American Profit Recovery (APR). Now, I had no intentions in the beginning of becoming a Collection Specialist at a collection agency. A brand new office and everyone is wearing jeans…

We have a brand new office here at American Profit Recovery. New walls, desks, chairs, conference rooms and new phones. Everything here looks great at this collection agency. So why did our staff spend the summer in jeans?

We were raising money for charity of course!

Every summer we run our annual Summer Charities of Choice program where we raise money for a bunch of nonprofit organizations. And we raise the bulk of our funds by paying for the option to dress casual in the office. We conduct a number of other activities to have fun and raise money but most of the cash is raised by dressing casual.

More Changes Coming for Data Furnishers to Consumer Reporting Agencies

There are big changes to the way creditors report to credit reporting agencies. Changes that you will want to be aware of.

In 2015, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion announced the National Consumer Assistance Plan to enhance their ability to collect complete and accurate consumer information and provide consumers more transparency when interacting with consumer reporting agencies about their credit reports. The plan was announced after cooperative discussions and an agreement with the Attorneys General of multiple states.

One of my favorite times of the year

It’s a time when the owners give back to the employees for all of the hard work they put in every single day. I Love My Career-Here’s Why

One of the best perks of my job is hiring and training new debt collectors. I love talking to candidates about American Profit Recovery, and the people I work with at this collection agency. It’s no secret we spend a lot of time on the phone here at this collection agency. Yes, as debt collectors our job is to speak with consumers to try and resolve their debts. We do it with respect and we treat everyone we communicate with on the phone with the decency they deserve.

Hell Yeah…I Want to Bring My Work Home with Me

You know the cliché’.

Don’t bring your work home with you they do say.

But that’s banal, overused and all too conventional a thought.

I’m here to turn this idea on its ear, to think a new thought.

Just another day in the park

Many hands make light work—it may sound cliché, but the employees of American Profit Recovery prove it to be true every year at our annual Adopt-a-Park Outing. This year, the employees and owners of this collection agency descended on Island Park in Brighton, MI to help their staff get ready for the spring and summer seasons. In six short hours, we not only cleared, replanted and mulched three flower beds; but we also assembled and stained over 30 picnic tables.

Creating more educational opportunities in the collection industry

American Profit Recovery was one of a handful of great collection agencies that took part in this year’s Collectors Challenge to raise money for some important programs. Money raised through these efforts is put towards the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship program that helps further the education of those in the collection industry.
