Reflections On My First Year At American Profit Recovery

I am coming up to my one year anniversary with American Profit Recovery and I was asked to write an entry for the blog.  The hard part was not actually writing a blog, but what to write about.  There has been so much that has happened in this short 12 month period.  Where to begin?

Looking back I remember being so sensitive in the beginning; learning how different people choose to communicate with us.  It makes me laugh because this past year was the most Cherry Pepsi I have ever consumed in my life.  This is my vice of choice.   And I can honestly say I have not had one in two months, which is the first step to recovery (inside CSR joke…)

I am truly trying to work things out in the best interest of both parties and I am now confident in what I am saying and doing.  It took a lot of role playing and asking questions when things didn’t make sense.  I think I got on the last nerves of some of my coworkers but they stuck with me.  They never showed frustration with my constant questioning sometimes repeats, and I appreciate that.  This collection agency is like a small family or group of friends who you’ve known for a long while.  It shows in just how happy everyone is here.

With me having some past experience in the workforce I know this is RARE and purposely put together this way.  That means management here not only cares about the bottom dollar but also for their employee’s comfort and growth as well.  We are put in positions to excel.  This is shown in our monthly meetings where we give appreciation from the beginning of your journey to being able to laugh at someone getting a pie in the face during the best employee week in the business.  Our clients hear it in our voices and comment on it every day.

I believe everything happens for a reason. When I submitted my application one year ago, I got a call the same day, interviewed a few days later and I’m glad to say they saw the potential in me. I had been a stay at home mom for over six years and now I’m working at a great place.   I have met and made friends with coworkers and I believe I may be twice some of their ages.  But that great.

Where I am today?  Helping the new CSR hires, answering their questions with the confidence and pride that was once shown to me.
